Now, where was I?

Hiya Nick!
Aye- every little helps! Never made it to any of the Refuge stones myself. Always ran out of time on my megalithic day-trips to West Lothian (ie- spend far too long pondering over Tormain Hill, then just wanna stay up by Cairnpapple to watch the sun go down- bliss!)

We were there around noon today. Have you clocked the brand new circle at Cathlaw on the road to Cairnpapple - Gus and I had a look at it, it's magic! The guy in the seriously-extended cottage down the side road had a brainstorm, he's erected a double circle with a small 'altar' type feature in the centre, even including an outlier to the NE. Couldn't get anyone in the house to talk to, must have been out, but Gus was told by one of his mates that the outlier is an original which was found in the field and re-erected. It certainly has plough-marks on part of the NE face. The stones in the circle are all around 2-4 feet high, it looks really good. And the finishing touch is a large stone just by the cottage itself, which has modern carvings of the Celtic Trinity above two opposing Dunadd boars.... Full marks to the person, whoever he is!
