I have seen a Beckhampton avenue stone dug up when a house renovation was taking place in the high st a few years back.
That's always pissed me right off - Stukeley et al said there were avenue remains going West, and yet it was only in the past few years that anyone has taken it seriously and found the odd one, making a big deal about it, with no reference to William and the fact that everyone knew it was there all the time!

I think it's time the Beckhampton Avenue was renovated, stones dug up and re-erected, it would make an excellent project for all the Uni's to participate in.

The negotiating avebury project ran from 1999 to 2005 and found 4 stones near the Beckhampton Cove and lots f burning pits.
The stones were reburied.
I have photographed a lot of stones under the winterbourne bridge and last year two more stones buried in Trusloe meadow.
There are several stones dotted along bray street and up the high st
