Nine Stones of Altarnun (Stone Circle)

Using Mr Hamhead's wonderful directions I finally found this circle after many false starts in the past.
I cannot read maps so this makes my life looking for stone circles very difficult!!
However this one was well worth the wait. On a beautiful day in mid July as I came up over the ridge and saw the circle before me it was like coming home.
I ran down the hill calling out to the stones as I went. We spent several happy hours together in the sun before I made my way back to the car.
So thank you Mr Hamhead you helped me achieve an ambition.

Stannon (Stone Circle)

20.7.03
Once again I stand in this wonderful circle. It calls me back every time I am in Cornwall. I have visited many other circles since but this one is closest to my heart. Once again the man I love is not with me but he is closer to me now. I hope next time I return he will be with me in this magic place. There is no mist today, no sun, no rain but the impact of this circle of stone needs no enhancement.

3.11.02. Today I stood in Stannon in the pouring rain. I have stood in this circle in the sun. Once I stood in this circle in the mist with a man that I loved. The mist is gone and so is he but the stones are still here.

Trethevy Quoit (Dolmen / Quoit / Cromlech)

Having been "lost" on Bodmin moor in the mist this time we were really prepared, map, compass, water, mars bar, boots, plastic bags!! Ten feet from the car, behind a hedge more or less in someones back garden,Trethevy Quoit!!!Some days are easier then others, but what a splendid sight no less dramatic for being close to civilisation.

The Hurlers (Stone Circle)

More magnificent stones, not "cuddly"like Duloe but impressive, just the same. In the background another big climb, no mist this time just impending dusk. The view from the top of the cheesewing was well worth the climb, this really does feel like the top of the world!!
