This double page spread from my sketchbook is a watercolour sketch made on a day when the light was disappointingly flat.
In this watercolour I have tried to capture the enchanting magic which is so strong, and so sweet in this fairy ring.
Painting property of baza.
This watercolour of HPT was rather hastily made as I sat on top of it. The image is a double page spread from my sketchbook – sorry for the nasty, dirty join up the middle!
‘Rollright Spring Dawn‘
Though I say it myself, this is a quite a good pic! The main stone must rise 11feet high!
One of the last remaining stones of the Quoit, taken in 1882. All these photos were taken from a locally produced book, published in 1995, called “Stanton Harcourt, a moment in time”.
This picture was taken in 1882 and shows photographer Henry Taunt standing next to the largest stone.
This photo, taken in 1882 shows the stone which was struck by lightening in 1927, the strike split off a section on the top right hand side.
‘Rollright Moondance’ (c) 2000
I wanted to imagine that, when all the visitors have gone, and the moon is full, that the stones create there own rhythm and they dance in the moonlight.
“King’s Men at Sunset” I love the light as it filters through those gorgeous pines.....JT
