I visited the White Horse at Uffington recently and on the way back down I noticed The White Horse Inn. I am disabled and suffer from internal problems. The pub was empty as I struggled in on with walking sticks.
I asked politely to use their bathroom as there isn't another one within easy distance. I explained that I am disabled and can't very easily wait to go to the bathroom. I also apologised profusely for asking to use the bathroom and said that I was in driving to London and didn't know where the nearest service station was.
I was greeted by a very sarcastic woman at the bar and a gentleman and barmaid who were very condescending about not being a public toilet and made it clear that I was not welcome to use their facilities.
As I hopped toward the door the woman and barmaid were made rude comments about being a 'bloody tourist' and got dirty looks as I apologised again.
Ended up in agonizing stomach pains as I drove 20 miles to a garage. This pub is unsympathetic for people with disabilities. |
