Cairn material – some of this may be clearance, but it looks like an original part of the monument.
G/F pointed out that the centre stone has a smiley face.
Sadly this solitary stone is all that remains of the possible circle. Nice stone though.
General view of the circle from the SW.
This is a big circle. The top of the upright on the north side of the circle (centre) looks miles away.
The recumbent and flankers. The fallen eastern flanker lies almost identically to the fallen flanker at Corrstones.
Large blocks in the internal cairn.
Looking west-ish.
Looking east – cloud-shrouded Bennachie on the left.
Approaching Gallow Hill stone.
General view of the ring cairn under its tree.
The largest, molar-like, stone in the ring.
One of the larger stones in the embanked ring. Looking across to the largest.
Showing the enormous amount of packing material at the base of the western “flanker”.
Hill of Airlie cairn inside the Barmkyn hillfort.
The interior of the fort, from the western rampart (foreground). Hill of Airlie cairn can be seen right of centre.
Looking along the top of the recumbent.
Looking WSW towards (I think) the Correen Hills.
The circle’s lovely woodland setting.
Elegant recumbent and flankers.
Looking across the circle to the recumbent.
The SW arc of stones with a couple of the displaced central stones in front.
Detail of the egg-shaped stones of the western arc.
From the west, showing how the stones are graded with the largest on the SW arc.
Raigmore cairn circle from the southeast.
The modern setting of the stone.
