Hillfort

Hambledon (Hillfort) by wysefool Hambledon hill (at top of image) from a distance. Taken in late the 1940's. Interesting bumps at the top right (but i've never been there so you dorsetters may know what they are!)

Yes I think one of us Dorsetters can explain the bumps , they are the ridges of the ramparts of the western end of the hillfort seen in profile from below. A similar thing can be seen in one of my photos of Flowers barrow in the Isle of Purbeck site in T.M.A. formicaant Posted by formicaant
