The stone circle is smaller than I expected, but although most of the stones are surrounded by water, the area around the circle is hard and the grass short. All is quiet except for the songs of the skylarks, what a shame the sun is not shining. The circle sits in a bowl surrounded by low hills, not much in the way of landmarks except Fox Tor to the north and Clitter Cairn behind me. It amazing to think that this area has at least half a dozen other prehistoric sites within walking distance but none can be seen from here...or can they?
