PSAS Articles

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland has recently added to the web almost the entire back catalogue of their proceedings (PSAS) with access to the the full articles, plans photos etc. Only the most recent Proceedings are not shown in full but they will be over time.

So you can now look up, for example, that PSAS reference in Burl’s guide to stone circles.

You go first to the list of volumes at ads.ahds.ac.uk/cfm/archway/volumeSelector.cfm?rcn=1340 and then from the volume to the index of articles and then to the article.

Long excavation reports full of pottery and soil descriptions are not everybodys taste but the plans, photographs and summaries may be more digestible.

As well as site-specific articles (some of which I have already linked), PSAS also contains general articles on monument types often including plans, distribution maps and inventories. The following may be of interest

Some articles may take some time to download depending on your connection speed.

Note that the other journals listed in this service currently only provide an index to the their articles. It is only in PSAS that you can access the articles.
