King Arthur's Cave

Cave / Rock Shelter

Fieldnotes

This is a very beautiful cave.

I first visited it in the Summer of 1989 and while I was walking around trying to find my way there I stopped in a village and asked an elderly chap who was doing his gardening if he knew where the cave was. He gave me directions, so I also asked him why it was called King Arthur's Cave and he said that when he was a boy the local children used to play in the cave and there used to be a large round stone inside (the Round Table?), when the highbrows started to dig for historical purposes they took the stone away and didn't bring it back.
