Wow, parallels with Maen Mawr/Cerrig Duon there. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

Some similarities maybe but also differences too I would say. Maen mawr and it's two companions are in a N/S relationship and their midday shadows give a samhein/Imbolc date reference.

This row is aligned approx. 153/333 deg's which is outside any date markings, so it presumably had a different purpose. Curiously if the alignment is carried on it passes through other stones to the N/W and also the trig point on N51.883 W-3.581.

This is the best time of year to see this because it gets overgrown in the summer. Not much use during this lockdown I know but maybe something to put on the list for more normal times.

Very good.

Maen Mawr has more than two stones, the others are very small though...

Guess the point is the Cerrig Duon 'alignment' is, from what I recall, a double... so maybe an avenue heading up from the Tawe; whereas here we have a single row, right?

Assume no close proximity associates to Maen Llia are suspected?

This is a row of flat slabby recumbents heading uphill towards Maen Llia as a unified entity, whereas the avenue at Cerrig Duon could be considered a separate entity from Maen mawr and the circle stones.
I personally believe all the elements at Cerrig duon are part of one overall scheme but it does seem different to the Maen Llia set up to me.
