Visited 5.6.2010. After a stop-off at Waun Leuci stone setting, this barrow was an unexpected extra (it's not on the OS) on the way along the Tawe valley towards Cerrig Duon. It looks pretty intact and is in a slightly unusual valley bottom location - although it's still at 400m above sea level, so hardly "lowland". From here the Tawe can be crossed fairly easily on the approach to Maen Mawr.

Good stuff SC....Interesting this. Not come across this yet since I only normally venture this far up the Tawe when the river's in spate, looking to cross, so tend to be studying it and not the hinterland. Bearing in mind the barrow beside the Nant-y-Llyn nearby, it would appear the presence of water was significant for these people. I'll have to get 'round to the stone arrangement and monolith one day, too. I'll stick them on my 'bad weather day' list. Great area, isn't it? Trouble is all the Waun Leuci sites might be getting a tad confusing for others - perhaps they could be grouped together TMA Eds?	Posted by GLADMAN 10th June 2010ce
