Ah, pre-restoration. My absolute favourite site anywhere.
This is a re-scan of an image a couple of years old. Has the restoration 'improved' or not in your opinion?
Without doubt improved it. It was a bit weird the first time we went after it had happened - possibly because the activity had been recent and everything was a bit bare-looking. But now, I wish they'd stick the other fallen stones back up too. Generally, I'm on the side of restoration as long as it's restoration not a fantasy re-imagining.
