Struggling to think of another hill fort where they've identified the well? Presumably most didn't have one and they popped down to the nearest stream for the day's supply.... since in the absence of standing armies siege warfare wouldn't have been a factor?
Great photos.
I was up Bennachie on Friday and saw the gang at work on the site.
Gladman - I can't think of anything as good as this high up. Tap o'Noth has a hole where 'Well' is marked on the old maps. I'm guessing most hillforts round here are Iron Age and what we see on Mither Tap is maybe a 1000 years later. It's high up for a pictish fort though if that's what it is.
Les - Thanks. It was busy. Weekday visits are always preferred.
