For the first time the thought has struck me that this might be the work of children. Not because of any perceived naivety in the images, but perhaps the copying of what they see. Has that ever been discussed?
Given that many of the interpreters , whether trying to be practical or imaginative are pretty useless , it has been suggested that children would provide far better interpretations . Considering that many children's drawings consist of many of the motifs found in rock art , it's not such a bad idea . They couldn't do any worse than the usual fare .
Apart from some of the Indian cup marks in quartz which might be a bit tiring for children to engrave , why not ?

Certainly in cave paintings , hand stencils etc .
