Please do bear in mind that in the era of Sadiq Khan's knife crime campaign and pleas for reductions in stabby behaviour that some of this stuff was weapons like swords, blades and bits of daggers and stuff, so any kind of attempt to take this kinda dangerous material out of the way of stabby youngsters is a great, great thing. Also think of the animals and remember the damage these blades and weapons could cause to livestock and wildlife. Think of the farmers... the cost of repairing or replacing tractors or quad bikes is also substantial. Hats off to the clean-up metal detectorists for transforming this dangerous, ecologically damaging midden of a field that the local council and Regional Archaeologists saw fit to ignore for so long.
