Another article in the latest CADW magazine reports on work that has been carried out on the cairn. Previous quarrying at the site had exposed the south-east end as well as retaining walls and standing stones. These were vulnerable to erosion and deterioration. The damaged section of the cairn has been reinforced with sandbags full of pea-sized, lightweight, expanded clay pellets (called Leca). This bank has been finished with an out layer of natural growth bags which will allow grasses and flowers to take hold and help keep everything in place.
