Well I suppose he highlights the problem that many of us face, and that is having money in one's pocket to do all that! And yes, it was all about publicising his book. Years ago I read 'Notes from a small country' and it was funny, the American view of us British.
The thread that states we get charged too much upfront for most of EH/NT entry fees is probably the most interesting theme he brings up, but he is definitely middle class and able to afford it.
Funnily enough I think we need more satire in the land of stones ;)
