Unfortunately this is always the case though isn't it. Why pump money into a country bumpkin museum if they (the museum) can beg the money from elsewhere?
The sad thing is that the more people contribute to these things through their own time and/or money the less likely the one holding the purse strings is to contribute.

Until people start making enough noise through there MP etc, these places will be starved of cash and will disappear without even a whimper.
It is up to the people to make noises and show the government what they want....and waiting years for the next chance to vote with your feet is not an option.


For anyone who hasn't seen it, here is an open letter from Dr Negley Harte, Chairman, which sets out ways the museum is trying to help itself. I like the fact that they do not want to increase the annual membership fee as they don't want to become a club for the well off elite.
