Well it has started, dismantled memorial stone at Airman Corner, it is a bit like the laying of a foundation stone or the blessing of a baby's head, Mike Pitts has captured the beginning of the change at Stonehenge ;)

Yes, at last, all things considered it’s now happening.

The present visitor ‘facilities’ will be removed, the A344 will be closed, and the monument given a little more space to itself in the landscape. Not perfect but it’s a start. The A303, with its accompanying distractions are still there but maybe, with a bit of pressure, something can be done to lessen those eventually.

My only gripe is the design of the Visitor Centre itself – the ‘vertical’ emphasis of the structure doesn’t seem to fit in very well with the soft undulating landscape. But hey, it’s more or less in the right place and can/will be replaced eventually.
