Apologies if this has been done before, but can anyone please tell me what the circular structure is or was about 200 yards east of the stone circle. on the South side of the A34?

The googlemaps satellite image clearly shows a distinct circular pattern on the ground with a similar diameter to the stone circle itself.

On the layout plans I have looked at on the site, I cannot see any reference to it at all.

Sounds like it will be one of the barrows , the area is covered in them ,have a look to the south of Stonehenge about 900 metres they are banging into each other .

I presume you mean the circle of uncultivated land to the south of the A303. It's three bowl barrows:

Ive noticed loads of these things around Stonehenge! There is a proper line of circles going SSE from Stonehenge. As well as lots more dotted around the place. I lose many hours to Google Earth and shape-spotting around the British countryside (its not as exciting as shape-shifting...)
