Hello

There is some 17th centrury graffito on stone 53 (just above the famous0 dagger carvings which apparently reads Ion: Lud Deterre.

Does anyone know what this means and what language is it carved, I would guess Latin?

could also be ioh lud deferre
which if you put deferre and stonehenge into google you will see some articles in 'Antiquity'. Unfortunately I don;t have access to them. But I think they're suggesting it's a man's name - john louis deferre. Maybe.
