This link argues that a prehistoric trackway passed by the Devils Arrows. Since it was written, Catterick henge has been discovered. A line drawn between Catterick Henge and the Arrows cuts through the centre of Cana Barn and Hutton Moor Henges. Furthermore, if extended south it cuts through Newton Kyme henge.

The fact that three of these henges are identical`and that they are built on a stright alignment gives strength to the suggestion that a dead straight overland route existed in the Neolithic period.

So, putting aside the "ley" issue, could it be that we have direct evidence of a long distance overland route that travels from the humber to Corbridge and beyond. Could this be a good clue as to the locations of other flattened henges I wonder?

<Corbridge and beyond

It's not a dead straight line following through from Corbridge, as it kinks along past Riding Mill, but Tone Hall Henge isn't quite flattened, and is just a spit and a hop away from Dere St.

Could be that old subjugation of sacred spaces thing again, too.
