>>> “I got a little more than I bargained for!”

Yeah, that’s not something you expect when out for a peaceful wander round the countryside looking for rocks, makes a change from meeting sheep and hikers.
Somebody who lives locally will have more information about it, but I think there have been several attacks on Rombalds moor recently and one was certainly featured on Crimewatch a little while back. I’m not sure why someone rooting around in the bracken taking pictures of rocks would look like a suspect though.
Just out of interest did you get an apology afterwards and did you ask for a ride in the chopper as compensation for your trouble – would have been a great opportunity for some impromptu aerial photography of the Twelve Apostles!

Bloody hell, that's some experience!! Mind you, when we were on Machrie Moor a couple of years ago, we saw a bloke wandering round on his own and Vicky thought he was an axe-murderer and got a bit paranoid when he went behind a rock and started rummaging around his bag. I think he was probably just having a quick wee, myself....but you never know!

I've never been stopped, but I have been buzzed by army helicopters around the borders on a couple of occasions.

A friend of mine had one land in the road in front of him and half a dozen squaddies jumped out and surrounded his car! I'd have shite meself!

doesn't sound a pleasant experience at all, but its good to know the Police are taking the previous incident seriously. Its thought that this nutter had also raped a 19yr old a few years ago, so can understand their nervousness in the area.

It will be difficult for a passer-by to interpret a RA hunters activity in any other way than odd, because I suppose it is :-)

On each of my RA ventures, I tend to carry a big purple slimcase/clipboard:

It gives folks the impression of officialdom, apparently!!

Don’t give up Treehugger, I’m sure you’ve had your one & only bad experience.
