Stonehenge: The True Story (again!)

If you missed it last time, "Stonehenge: The True Story" is being repeated tonight on Channel 5 at 8pm

Their website says:
"Historical documentary which looks at a startling new theory as to how and why this archeological enigma was built. Most people know that the stones were dragged from Wales to their present site. However, Stonehenge expert Barry Cunliffe believes the people who built it showed amazing signs of advanced thinking on the subject of solar and lunar activity.
(Repeat, Subtitles, Stereo)"

Startling new theory? Hmm...

Thanks for reminding me of that goffik - would have missed it otherwise.

I found some of the non-Stonehenge topics in the programme a lot more interesting than the central theme of the on-going 'what-rose-when-and-where' debate. The gold conical hats for example are fascinating (what was the date given for them?) and I'd love to hear what others at TMA think of those.

It makes you wonder though doesn't it (not the conical hats) where some of these TV programme makers are coming from. Cant help quoting Cerri on the Stones List when she says, "Just where did Sims think the ancients found a baby lamb (for sacrifice) in mid-winter?"

A sacrificial lamb? - bit Judaeo-Christian to say the least.
