Too much for one person to report but E Kennet shocked all who hadn't seen it before, it's HUGE.
The other shock is that Nigel has come out at last. He's cancelled his subscription to the Sceptic's Mag and has been *******!.........Sorry...too upset to continue...sob...

Hey what did I miss in the pub?
I took my lad home and was going to come back but every gararge in Devizes had 'No Petrol' signs up! Don't whats happened there!
A good days walking, Silbaby, Palisade Enclosure site to East Kennet Longbarrow, Harestone down circle to Langden Circle.
Climb the hill to Wansdyke and views of Adams Grave and Knap Hill looming in the mist.
Back at Avebury a few of us ventured off to Avebury down circle/tumulus where we successfully fired 3 rockets with an onboard camera achieving 2 out 3 photos.
Great day with a good turn out!

Cheers Jim. Where better than here to have my coming out publicly announced. Thank you very much.

If you are talking about my confession that I'd been dowsing some stones, and found it worked very well, then yes I confess it. However, I don't intend to cancel my subscription, on the grounds that it wasn't under laboratory conditions and I'm an unreliable witness.

It was an excellent day with lots of new faces, all lovely people as always proves to be the case. There's something about stones...

Prizes for Lynn and Elaine for travelling furthest (from Yorkshire) and for Mr Glastonbury for travelling the least but laying on a great itinerary as always.

Finally, a huge prize to you Jim, for being 60 tomorrow!

Ohhh, yes... what a day! Bloody freezing, but the long walk soon sorted us out...

Cheers, Pete - yer a diamond geezer, and I know for a FACT that I'd not see 90% of the things around Avebury if it weren't for you! You're an asset (no - that's not a mis-spelling!) to that place... East Kennett Long Barrow is a sight to behold - it's massive! I had no idea! For some reason I thought it was one of these "not much left to see" jobbies. Another pleasant shock! And those ruined circles on the way to Wansdyke were quite sweet - sad but sweet... Nice to see, anyway, and I'll bet the views are AMAZING on a clear day! And as for Wansdyke itself - I didn't know what to expect there, but wow! What an enormous dyke! <insert joke here> I'm definitely gonna redo this walk in better weather... Cheers, Pete - can't wait for the next one! We did wonder where you'd got to! Sorry we didn't get to see you again...

Really nice to meet the new people - always a shock to me to find that you all really do exist outside my head. And always a pleasant shock too! Sorry I didn't know who any of you were - it's quite normal for me, I'm afraid... Matt & Charlie, Lynn, Elaine, Third Degree & Co (the 3 Johns!), Lythop (sorry - I had no idea it was you till the end of the day!)

What I really enjoyed was how more people seemed to appear at each site!

And as for the painting - you are spot on, Moth - made my heart flutter and brought me out in goosebumps! It's the first original "Tomlinson" I've seen in the flesh! I know Mrs G is made up with it as well - the look on her face is one I'll remember! It's a beaut, alright - could never imagine from the small pics on TMA just how fabulous it is... That's gonna take pride of place in t'living room, I tell thee. I apologise to everyone else in the whole world that hasn't got it. ;o) Them wee postcards are excellent too! They're gonna go down really well at work...

And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jimit!!! I forgot! Hope you have a lovely day, matey...

Hope Jamie's knee gets better in time for the post New Year Dorset Puddingfest!!! Any ideas welcome for that one, and all are welcome!

Love to you all

...all for your public and private messages about my birthday :)) You have made a happy man very old!

Must add my thanks to Pete for, again, showing us things in the Avebury landscape which, without him, we would know nothing about. A spring meet, when the weather is better and before everything is covered in foliage, should be on the cards.

The rocket episode was a hoot, grey wraiths against a grey sky trying to photograph grey stones. Lots of cussing when various electronic bits didn't work and a lot of cobbling together of batteries from various cameras. Dying to see the pics.

Pete, I might be around at the Solstice and if you are too I might let you photograph my singular ball ;)

Some of me photos at http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/kralkmit2/my_photos for anyone who wants a look.

love
