I know you probably think I watch too much tv but last night's BBC4 programme with Simon Armitage was very interesting. It was part of the poetry season - you may know that he fairly recently translated SGATGK into modern English (no that does not mean it was set in a supermarket). He trekked about across Northern England and Wales following Sir Gawain and finally ended up in Lud's Church. Lots of lovely scenery.
Definitely worth a look if you can get the iplayer to work. Though these things do seem to get repeated don't they.

There's a barrow mentioned in SGATGK and I've often wondered if it's based on a real one, and if it is whether it's a pre-Roman one.
