HI :)

First time in this forum, was just wondering if any of you had any ideas of the best places and things to do at Avebury?

Me and my partner need a break from the rat race (and our little boy, i mean that in a nice way, not had a holiday or anything since he was born) So we decided on a 3 day stay in Avebury so that we can see the sites. Were really noobes in the stone circle's, but have managed to go to Long Meg and Arbor Low, easy as we live in Wigan.

Reading 'THE BOOK' Julian Cope says what the best sites are but we are a bit unsure if we can fit them all in, bearing in mind the hang overs from the following night!!!

In the book he mentions the Silbury Game, can anyone tell us what to do? Where to go? Where to start?

Hiya!

As far as I know to partake in the game, simply walk South along the ridgeway towards The Sanctuary watching silbury as you go. More knowledgable folk'll tell you where to start.

I was on Anglezarke(ish) near Bolton on Sunday watching Round Loaf play a similar game as I walked from Belmont Road? to White/Black Coppice :)

If you stay at the New Inn at Winterbourne Monkton
http://www.thenewinn.net you can walk across Avebury down to the Ridgeway and walk along to the sanctuary playing the Silbury game.
There are other areas around that the Silbury game can be played that Julian hasn't written about in his pocket guide ;)
