Subject:

1.) The "definitive" Silbury (whatever you feel that means).

Tweaking, including removal of the fencing, allowable.
Please ensure there are no copyright issues.
The best (perhaps more than one) based on a vote, to be used on the site.
If you email them I'll endeavour to publish them off this site (unless Andy or anyone more technically competent than me cares to volunteer).

2.) We also need a picture that illustrates it's current poor aesthetic state as powerfully as possible, so that can form a secondary competition. To avoid deep embarrassment, please specify if intended for Category 1 or 2 ....

To ensure variety on the site I think we need both a "close up" and a distant shot, so please specify

Category 1a (Silbury as the main subject)
or
Category 1b (Silbury in the landscape)

Um, Nigel - size & type of file? Esp if they're gonna be plunking into your inbox...!

Limit on no of entries per person?

There are some pictures of the damage if you follow the link from this page:

Note that there are some annoying pop-ups associated with the above site.

I don't know about any copyright issues.

Hi Nigel.... send them thru' to me if you'd like me to put them on the same webspace as the logos. I've got broadband at work, so no probs with sending pics. Say approx 600 pixels wide @ 72ppi and compressed as a JPEG.

Bloody hell!

I went to the trouble of finding my Silbury pics & resizing em to less than 600 pix & every other bugger just gets away with posting a URL....

Lazy gits! (Disqualify 'em Nige!!)

The Silbury Hill Photo Competition pics are on view at...

http://www.eclipse-design.co.uk/heritageaction

Just found old photo of Silbury Hill (A guide to Prehistoric England -Nicholas Thomas 1960), which answers a question that has been worrying me all week. Q; how do you know what the top of S/h looks like after all that excavation? This photo shows a snow clad Silbury Hill with a slightly domed top, all the tops on the photos show flat platforms. Technically illiterate about putting photos from books on site!!

Has the comp finished yet?
