The Cove

close

These questions have been posed in another place:

"How long has it been since the Avebury Cove was cordoned off (due to the danger from one of the two stones lilting at a dangerous angle?). Three or four years...? perhaps more? Why is it taking the National Trust so long to implement remedial conservation here? If the stone in question does fall the chances are that it will break up and damage the other in the process. What is the problem with the NT here? Usual bureaucratic incompetence? Lack of financial resources? Internal politics?

Whatever... if something is not done soon to save the Avebury Cove stones it may be too late.

LS"

Can anyone provide any answers?

Work is starting this month to set the stones in concrete.
EH have been measuring them over the last 5 years to test for movement from the road traffic.
By summer the railings will be down and it will be open access again.
