For anyone who doesn't know it is a development of five houses on the site of a derelict garage - quite close to the north entrance of Avebury Henge, although there is a plantation of trees and a field in between.

There are people who are vehemently opposed to the development but the Avebury residents were apparently in favour of it on the grounds that it would bring new life to an otherwise dying community.

I travel between Swindon, Avebury and Devizes by bus on a regular basis and can confirm that building work started well before the new year. There is no turning back now and resurrecting the debate is pointless - except to say I would expect the developers adhere to the conditions laid down when planning permission was granted and ameliorate the impact of new buildings with tree planting / landscaping etc.
