200 tents is pretty cool, isn't it? Good ol' NT!

It's gotta be the preferrable option to Stonehenge, hasn't it? Loads less hassle...

Thanks Pete...have only been at Autumn Equinox, never Summer Solstice...where are these places you mention and what time is early :) x

Thank you Pete...Friday it is then :) :)

I'll be very lost in a purple VW...say hello to me :) and help me find a parking space! x

Thanks for your help guys :) Have wanted to go to Avebury for a few years now...did Stonehenge last year and was a little disappointed at the atmosphere there...glad I tried it though... Melanie x

Excellent!
I think we'll camp nearby friday night then head for Avebury as close to 9am as poss. My oh my, somewhere to lie down after sunrise, rather than a drive I never really remember back to Bath...

...on Saturday night.
There were about a hundred people crossing the road at the pub about 11pm and stewards from the swindon rotary club directing them ?
Whats that all about then ?

:o/

More news here as to the Solstice weekend .....

Hundreds at Avebury rather than 'thousands', so no unmanned drones or horses, or even 'sniffer' dogs ;)

Had a lovely time at Avebury for Solstice... parked my much' not wanted in the village' camper van on the Ridgeway and it all worked out lovely... it was a bit of a walk but a very lovely walk nevertheless...thanks for your suggestions :) :)

Thanks Pete and Megadread...without your parking advice I would have ended up at Stonehenge again...we got to the Ridgeway at around 10ish on Sat morning and got a spot, everyone was friendly too :) Avebury is definitely a fave for me, very relaxed even if it's a pain to park...kind of keeps the celebration smaller so that's all good in a way :) Love and Light and many Solstice blessings to you xxxx
