I had a visit from Antony Mason today, he was just back from court after standing up to a parking ticket he got on the West kennet avenue.
The magistrates threw it out as they said there is no good reason to have yellow lines on a country B road.
I wonder how the NT are going to react to this?

Woof! Sense from a magistrate.

NT realy cheese me off, they play lip service to people erosion, using it as an excuse to herd them into tight concentrations that focus particularly on the sites being eroded. The yellow line business is yet another example of this crap.

Try visiting Hadrians wall (spit if you want) miles and miles of monument with a management programme deliberately designed to squeeze tourists into pay parking zones focussed on the major sites.

It is a totally stupid mentality bourne of a total lack of understandiong of both the needs of the site and the needs of the tourists. It also betrays a total lack of understanding of the economics of tourism.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh now i wonder if those gaudy coloured lines will be spirited away from Avebury ???????not on your life !.anyone got a job lot of road grey paint ?

Surely now a precendent has been set the lines are meaningless?

Good for him for standing up to it.

Cheers
