...first record?
Mine was Tommy Steele's 'Singing the Blues'.
Was in my homeland of Jersey and jumped on the first bus in the morning into town. I would have been about 14 years of age. Ran to the record store in St Helier, bought the record and hurried back to catch the return bus.
Jumped aboard all excited and sat with my Bakelite (or whatever they were made of then) record on my lap. Along came the conductor for my ticket which triggered off my desperate search for it. 'Is it in your back pocket lad' the miserable git asked? Up I stood and put my precious cargo down on the seat before searching my pockets again. Nothing!
Misery guts then started giving me a fecking lecture about fair-dodging so I sat down to listen to his ranting....crunch! You can work the rest out for yourself, but as I emptied the bits of record in the bag all over the seat, out popped my bus ticket.
Two hours later after pleading with my dad for another three shillings + bus fare to zip into town again, I was grooving to TS!
Memories eh!
