Having just returned from Stornoway I thought it was worthwhile to let you know that there have been some new 'discoveries' re: Callanish this year.
Largely thanks (again) to Margaret Curtis who is still working so hard and who never gives up exploring. I had a wonderful time with her. She's such an interesting character.
(BTW Julian if you're reading this , I know that Margaret would appreciate it if you got in touch with her, she's very lonely since Ron died last year, but she carries on the work regardless!)
If you're interested in the latest on Callanish then check out Margeret's most recent booklet "Stones, Moon and Sacred Landscape - Extrapolation (January 2009)"
The 'discovery' is the strong connection between hornblendes (circular markings on the stones) and key lunar observation points - it's so interesting.
