Hi all, have been lurking around this site for months now, and decided it was a good idea to write soemthing. hehehe.

my boyfriend and i went to the rollright stones over xmas, was realy nice and frosty, little bit of snow, took some cooool pics!

however, most ofyou who have visited with probably know the king stone and whispering knights have gates around them with padlocks on them for protection i presume.

to our horror the family unlocked the combination lock (out of pure luck i guess - or hardened lock pickers!) and proceeded to go inside the fence and jump all over the stones. the children were collecting the money out of the stones which people had thrown in and taking it, and there was a wreath there and that was almost taken too!

has anyone else experienced or seen this happening? i was quite shocked that the parents were letting their children behave in such a way, especially 'stealing' the money (which were probably peoples wishes) and messing around with the wreath and things, in full view of my bloke and myself! and the father was just as bad in there with them giving them the money!

they then left and locked the gate, changing the combination on the padlock.

surely the locked gates are there for protection and to stop people jumping all over them and desecrating them?

Hi Rach and welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately it's a sad fact but there are arseholes everywhere and those aresoles bring their kids up to act like arseholes and the whole thing goes on and on and on. It's all quite depressing.
I suppose some folk would advocate bigger walls, stronger locks, cameras etc personally I would take down the fences, unlock the gates and perhaps put up a sign asking people not to behave like arseholes. No doubt some arsehole would chop the sign down for firewood but hey...

So you met the druids then?
