Claimed not to be fiddled with.. Anyone else had oddity like this ?

I all get a red tinge at Oldbury on Severn church (only) on the LCD display but the image output in fine.

Spooky...

at a guess I'd say the battery power drained before it finished writing the image to disk.
If it was cold and the camera was just taken out of a warm pocket the batteries can drain very fast,
they come alive again when warmed up.

I had a camera heat up and the batteries start fizzing at Robin Hoods Stride in Derbyshire about 8 years ago whilst taking pics of the stones

:O Depression banks ahoy

I used to get very strange effects on some photos with digital cameras until I discovered the wooly gloves I wore were building up charge, I got some Lowepro photographers gloves and havent seen the problem since. It's also possible that the door sensor that tells it if the memory card is being removed is faulty or the door got a bang, this can cause the camera to interupt the writing of the file.

If it was a RAW image then there'd be something in it, but as it was probably a JPG then it's most likely just a compression fault. As soon as you start compressing images you're asking for trouble. One bad bit in the start of the file and it can all go to pot.

Whatever happened to curious earth magic-spirit-glow-ancient-ghosts wierd image corruption? Them were the days! Now it's all interrupted card writing and static gloves. Gimme some fairies at the bottom of the garden.... ;-)
