Crosby/Southport

I am thinking of visiting the Anthony Gormley 'Another Place' artwork at Crosby (if its still there!) and i was wondering what prehistoric sites are not too far away from there i can visit that anyone can recomend?

Thanks

Mark

Sorry Mark, but there aren't any.

The nearest site of any significance is the Calderstones in Liverpool:

Unfortunately, they're locked up and you need to find someone willing to allow you in; I did.

The only other possibility is to try to find the ephemeral prehistoric footprints on Formby beach:

A National Trust warden told me where to look:

You'd better get your skates on if you want to see Another Place...it's due to be dismantled in the New Year. It's well worth a visit though. Allow a good few hours so you can see the sculptures at different tide levels.
