I was extremely pleased to discover that there is/was the remains of an Iron Age settlement virtually on my friggin doorstep!

I was thumbing through a local history book in a shop t'other day, expecting the usual medieval/victorian/ww2 fayre, when I came across a wee snippet about a farmstead/settlement in the grounds of the school near me.

I thought I'd go back and buy the book later in the week so I could investigate further, but can I a) find it; and b) remember what it's called? Can I fook?

Still - nice to know that Hampshire isn't quite as devoid of interesting features as I once thought... Time to hassle the local archaeology unit for more info, methinks!

I'm not far away as you know and I tend to agree about Hants although we do have shed loads of Long Barrows and IA Forts.
Were MAGIC or Hants Treasures any help?

Hey goffik,

There's an iron age sauna in Moseley Bog about a mile from where we live. It doesn't look like much but apparently the stones that litter the small mound there are all cracked from being heated up to make steam.

It's ace to think of people several thousand years back taking time out in the depths of winter to have a laid back sauna :D
