A new <b>Timewatch</b> series beginning on BBC2 on Friday, 20 January sets out to "...solve a pair of ancient murder mysteries after the discovery of two bodies perfectly preserved by the (Irish) peat bog in which they had been buried many centuries before."*

The first in a series of six begins at 9:00pm.

One of them was wearing hair gel! The other had no head ...

Splendid! I do so love bog bodies. Real people, just like you and I, except long dead. If only they could talk!

I take exception to the term "murder". If they were executed according to tribal law they would not have been murdered. If they were sacrificial victims they would have been holy martyrs. Why do we apply our values?
