Looking at the weston spoons, it reminds me of bronze mirrors. The Birdlip (Glos) which is the nearest one, hardly has any pattern, but there is one down at Trelan Bahown, Cornwall which gives some idea of how they were patterned, and how similar the patterns were. In the book I am looking at (B.M. Iron Age 1905) there is also an Iberian bronze statuette found at Aust cliffs, it was part of a hoard found there at the bottom of the cliffs, propitiating the gods presumably before they crossed the estuary...
Charmy down barrows - they echo the barrows on the opposite side of the valley, following the track. Why they did this have never found an explanation.. Did'nt realise Skinner had got so far from Camerton in his tracking of ancient tumuli! They are also in a line, could it be that it was a family/clan/subsequent generations buried, reminding the people who passed of the territory they were in. In a vague sort of way it reminds me of Tibet with their white scarves and flags fluttering on the high mountain passes as you pass along the track..

Trelan Bahorn.......

Where? could someone explain all this...it sounds interesting but leaves me totaly mistyfied!
