Does anyone know the best way to the top of dunmore hillfort in stirlingshire.

Worth a visit into Callander whilst you're there...St Kessog's mound is marked on the plaque as a "motte & bailey"....yet proclaims to be where St Kessog preached from....the time lapse for the saint being there and the introduction of motte & bailey are chonologically wrong.....but as has been mentioned on another thread.....M&B may have been based on a much earlier design and not introduced in Norman times.

You just park halfway along the street in Fintry (you cant get lost Fintry only has one street). There is a footpath which takes you up. Only ten minutes from the road with a bit of a steep scramble at the end. There are actually two forts up there - Dunmore (Big Dun) and Dunbeg (Little Dun). Dunbeg is in the woods on the way up. Dunmore is at the top. Years since I've been - my brother was a locum GP next door in Balfron way back in the day.
