Rhyd Uchaf

Cairn(s)

Rhyd Uchaf (Cairn(s)) by thesweetcheat Looking west, towards the northern summit of Fan Nedd (with its own cairn) and Maen Llia. The cairn itself is badly ruined but would have been of a substantial size and is placed at a significant spot at the head of the valley, next to the confluence of various tributaries of the Afon Llia.

The ring of earthfast endset slabs would be more or less where you were stood to take this photo.

A-ha! I hadn't intended to do this walk at all, I'd actually planned a route near Resolven for the day, but the weather distracted me. As a result, I hadn't done any Coflein research at all and didn't know about that, or about the "hengiform" thing nearby. Lovely day out though. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat
