Trelew Farm (Bed & Breakfast, nr Penzance)

Trelew farmhouse offers B&B and a trail across their fields to Boscawen Un passing a couple of standing stones on the way. Very happy to recommend it..had a great couple of nights there in the spring of 2011.
Plenty of information in the dining room and lounge to help you plan visits to other sites in the area.
Very central to all the West Penwith area so also good for visits to Minack theatre, Penzance, and dare I say it Lands End!
..also, great breakfasts with eggs, bacon and sausages all straight from the farm.

The Colliford Tavern (Pub, St Neot)

Not only a pub but also a campsite.
has become my stopping off spot after a hard day on Bodmin Moor. Very central, just off the A30 and cheaper than Jamaica Inn....and without the coach partys!
The main bar is a small snugg type place while there is a large restaurant type area which tends to attract the families.
I have not eaten so can't comment on the food.
Next door is Colliford lake Park which is a bit of a theme park with rides and animals etc..but has a good cafe and puts on world/folk music evenings in the summer.
10 mins drive to Dozmary Pool and "my henge" at Letter Moor.

The Blisland Inn (Pub, nr Bodmin)

Has for a few years now been known for its real ales (it was CAMRA pub of the year 3 years ago) It also does good food. Situated on one of the few village greens in Cornwall with some interesting buildings nearby it is also handy for those exploring the western side of Bodmin Moor
Sites nearby include the Stipple Stones, Trippet Stones, Stannon and the whole Roughtor/Brown Willy area.
Also lots of crosses in the parish and the Jubilee Stone, a large granite boulder covered in 19th century carvings.

Mr Hamhead started as a doodle on a scrap of paper many years ago.....then he became a submariner in a series of poems that I am writing. When I needed a name for this site he just sort of popped up.
In the real world I go under the far less interesting title of Mark Camp, keen walker, historian and tourist guide.
I am lucky enough to live in Cornwall, a mile from the south coast and within half an hours drive of Bodmin Moor. Hence the sites I have contributed.
My first love up on the moors (and Cornwall in general) is industrial history, but you are never far from a lump of granite and through research for walks I have become interested in all things ancient.
It has helped that I have been listening to Mr Cope since buying Reward as a young student and have followed his career from the far west where musicians seldom come to play.
As I have said before on the site, if any TMA contributors are in the area and fancy a walk on the moor, get in touch, I will be happy to share my knowledge of everything the moor has to offer.

oh yes ..my website is at http://www.walkaboutwest.co.uk
