T. Bateman excavated some of the barrow, more than likely heading straight for the primary burial, in 1857. He discovered a crouched burial on a bed of clay within a rock-cut grave, also found in the grave was a bone tool, several flints and an early bronze age decorated drinking vessel. stubob Posted by stubob
