Corrower

Standing Stone / Menhir

Fieldnotes

This is a lovely stone, standing quite close to the roadside on the road to Attymass from Ballina.

(I think the hamlet is also signed as Currower)

As we approached, the first sunshine of the day broke through (it was 5pm and had been raining all day!) and the stone was visible on the left of the road.

One of the very few sites I managed to see on my very short break to Mayo but a lovely one, all the same.

There is a nice stone pair in a field 300m to the east, land owner said they were the remains of a dolmen that was damaged in the past, will post some photos when I return home bogman Posted by bogman
