Linear, 17 miles. Walked up from Harehope Hall to Old Bewick. After Ros Castle I cut east then north over Willie Law (very tough going over boggy, deeply vegetated ground at first) to Whinny Hill, then onto Chatton. I would have finished there, but the road was closed that day unexpectedly so no buses, I had to walk another 5 miles over another hill to get to Wooler, up against an increasingly unfavourable last bus time. Not recommended, but the quality of sites was brilliant enough to justify the knackered legs!
