The concrete lintel guarding it from the weathering effects of water falling down the slope of the cairn protrudes about a foot beyond the face of the stone and does a good job overall. That, and the fact that it probably remained buried under collapsing cairn rubble for the guts of 4,000 years, has given us what we see today. Really up close and you can see the pick marks of the carving. I love the way the diamond/lozenge pattern in the bottom left is carved in relief. ryaner Posted by ryaner
