Pettico Wick

Cliff Fort

Fieldnotes

In truth apart from the single degraded semicircular cliff edge to cliff edge rampart there is not much visible remaining here...BUT nonetheless a visit is a must, as the path to it from an access gate on the lighthouse road continues past along the cliffs to the W past a string of forts and settlements. The path isn't marked on the OS, and the scenery is to die for. Couldn't do this time as girlfriend's hip replacement was giving gyp. Asap...a truly gorgeous bit of coast. spencer Posted by spencer

Yeah, great coast. I recall I stayed as Coldingham YH many moons back. Although not within scope of TMA, Tantallon further up the coast, is, for me, one of Scotland's finest castles. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

First time I'd ever been...absolutely entranced. Thyme heather etc in full bloom. Really want to get back in next few weeks. spencer Posted by spencer

I think you'll like the paired cliff fort just round the coast spencer. Was surprised none of these sites were on TMA already.

I liked Coldingham, had a brief mooch before coming here, although it was raining and very cold.

Yup, noticed you'd done the add and likewise surprised these places hadn't been on TMA long ago. Can't wait to get back. EDIT: seems that two sites I've visited today near Arbor Low in the never visited White Peak may not be on the TMA database either. Just goes to show... spencer Posted by spencer
