Hello, I came across this thread and thought I’d add my ten-penneth. I first visited Doll Tor back in January 1989 - it was then a pristine and little-visited site. A return visit on 21 October 1994 changed all that. On arrival I encountered logging going on in the surrounding woodland. I discovered that large tree trunks been hauled through the wooded area and I saw that the circle had been badly disturbed. It appeared that the loggers had been unaware of if its presence or significance and had dragged logs through and over the circle causing considerable damage. As there was no one on site to complain to, I drove home and telephoned the park authorities (this was before I had a mobile phone) and reported the destruction I had witnessed. A subsequent visit on 19 October that same year, revealed that the circle had been reinstated - although not quite as I remembered it.... Terry
